Get Ready to Register Voters in the New Year

Beginning in January, you have the opportunity to become a Voter Deputy Registrar or to renew your status that expired at the end of 2024. All VDR designations in the State of Texas expired at the end of 2024. Each county will provide registration if one is already a registered VDR in another county. You can choose which option works best for you. Then, you can apply for reciprocal VDR certification in the other counties.

Several of you have friends who also mentioned they want to become VDRs. Please encourage them to join us. We have city and school board elections coming up this spring.
  • In-person classes for Dallas County are scheduled beginning in January. Here is the link to register for a class in Dallas: Dallas County VDR class registration.
  • Collin County has both virtual and in-person classes posted and will schedule by appointment. Contact the Elections Department between 8am and 5pm Monday - Friday to make an appointment. The process should take about 15 minutes. Collin County Elections VDR information
  • Denton County has virtual training and will mail your registration. See Denton County's VDR process here.
We are scheduled to begin registering new voters as the year begins. Please let us know once you have gotten your new VDR status which will be good until the end of 2026! Just send an email to: VoterReg@lwvrichardson.org

We would love to hear from you. Also, please update your status on the membership tab of LWVRichardson's website.

We are looking forward to working with you again this year!

March to the Polls Announces Its
Annual Multi-County Training
of Volunteer Deputy Registrars

Announcing our
Annual Multi-County
VDR training

What is a VDR Training?

In order to register others to vote, you must attend a training to become a Volunteer Deputy Registrar. No matter when you get trained, the certification always expires at the end of an even year. Therefore, all individuals must go through training on or after January 1, 2025.

Our MTTP Team will be offering a training that gives you certification for Dallas, Denton, and Tarrant Counties.

When is the VDR Training?

You can choose one of the following training dates:

  • Tuesday, January 21, 2025 from 4:00pm-5:30pm
  • Tuesday, January 21, 2025 from 6:00pm-8:00pm
  • Saturday, January 25, 2025 from 10:00am-11:30am
  • Saturday, January 25, 2025 from 12:00pm-1:30pm

We must limit the attendance to 60 individuals per training option so please reserve your seat today.

Where are the VDR Training Dates?

All training dates listed above will be at the Dallas County Elections Department which is located at 1520 Round Table, Dallas, TX 75247.

How can I participate?

1) Attend a training. Save your seat by registering below.

2) Volunteer before and during a training. Click on the registration link below.

3) Collaborate with us. If you represent an organization and would like to collaborate on this event, please email info@marchtothepolls.org

What do I do after I sign up?

Our team will send out an email with detailed instructions, including any forms you need to complete ahead of time. Please wait for that communication from us. :)

We hope to see you all there! Thank you so much.

Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP)
and
Medicaid for Children

CHIP and Children’s Medicaid have been well received by Texas families and these programs help to assure that our children have adequate preventative care in addition to coverage for more complex medical care. It is much more cost effective to provide immunizations, check-ups, and early intervention in childhood illnesses than to wait for a problem to develop into an emergency.

LWVRichardson is a long-time supporter of these programs.

Members can help with an application help session at
St. Barnabas Presbyterian Church
Richardson 75080
from 9 to noon on January 18, 2025.

Spanish speaking experts will be available to assist. During our November help session, four families received assistance.

Families who do not have coverage through their employment such as seasonal workers, employees who work part-time, grandparents who are raising their grandchildren on a fixed income, those who are currently unemployed, and teenagers who are “on their own” are some of our neighbors who might have eligible children. Please invite anyone you think may be interested to be with us on Jan. 18.
