THE ABSOLUTE WÜRST!
Our craft-casual gourmet hot dogs, sausages and burgers; premium shakes and soft-serve ice cream; and beer program that spotlights local brews has garnered critical acclaim and national attention since we opened our first location in our hometown of Pasadena, CA in 2010. We’re known for signature all beef Haus Dogs and hand crafted proprietary Haus sausages as well as the 100% genetically tested, humanely raised Black Angus beef using no hormones and no antibiotics - never ever. Another reason dogs, sausages and burgers are special is that we serve them on grilled King's Hawaiian rolls. | | | You must present this flyer in order for your meal to count for the LWVRichardson fundraiser.

Support LWVR on North Texas Giving Day
|
We are thrilled to be able to participate in the North Texas Giving Day (NTGD) event this year. Mark your calendars now for Thursday, September 22. Click here to go directly to LWVRichardson's North Texas Giving Day page.
North Texas Giving Day’s goal is to be supportive of nonprofits across the entire DFW region. Our organization depends on donations from members and friends in order to further our goals of empowering voters and defending democracy. Please visit NTGD's web page, our Facebook page, and our web page for more information in the coming weeks.
Early giving begins September 1 so you can get an early start on your gift-giving to LWV-Richardson. And please share this information with your family and friends for their opportunity to help support our goals.
Thank you! |
Join our Discussion Group, September 20, 7pm, via Zoom

Note the new night: the 3rd Tuesday of the month. Mark your calendar! Same time, same place (Zoom), same great discussions! We hope you can join us. | "Disinformation. Trolling. Conspiracies. Social media pile-ons. Campus intolerance. On the surface, these recent additions to our daily vocabulary appear to have little in common. But together, they are driving an epistemic crisis: a multi-front challenge to America’s ability to distinguish fact from fiction and elevate truth above falsehood."
This is a broad-ranging topic. I am suggesting that in September we take a look at the first chapter of the book, which can be found here, and consider whether we want to continue on with successive chapters. A new chapter could be every other month so we aren't restricted to only this book. | Please send any ideas for topics you have to program@lwvrichardson.org. I will circulate the list before the September meeting so we can choose topics for the October and November meetings during the September meeting. We normally take December off and reconvene in January.
Thanks and I look forward to talking with you. | LWV Richardson is inviting you to a scheduled Zoom meeting.

Have questions for candidates of Texas House District 102 or 112?
| Your Richardson League is planning to hold a candidate forum for the candidates running in the November 8, 2022, Election for:
- Texas House District 102: Ana-Maria Ramos (D-Incumbent) and Susan Fischer (R)
- Texas House District 112: Angie Chen Button (R-Incumbent) and Elva Curl
The forum will be recorded via Zoom and then uploaded to the Richardson League's YouTube Channel.
Do you have a question you would like to ask the candidates? All questions asked during the forum will be asked of both candidates running for that position. There will be a committee to review all questions submitted. All questions submitted will be considered. Some questions may be combined with other submitted questions or reworded. Depending on how many questions are submitted, we may not be able to use all submitted questions.
Send your questions to voterservice@lwvrichardson.org. Thank you.

Hundreds of New U.S. Citizens Registered by LWV
| LWVRichardson, LWVCollin, and LWVDallas have combined forces with other non-partisan groups to register new U. S. citizens to vote after receiving their U.S. citizenship at a North Texas Naturalization Ceremony. Since June 23, 2022, Naturalization Ceremonies have been held on 5 days. Over 3,900 new citizens were registered to vote. Of those, 608 new U. S. citizens were registered by League of Women Voters Voltunteer Deputy Registrars.
About 750-800 new citizens are registered during the entire day at the Naturalization Ceremonies. Most VDRs are able to register 15-25 new citizens, if they work all shifts. So, 30-50 Volunteer Registrars are needed each day at the North Texas Naturalization Ceremonies.
We need YOU!
If you'd like to help register new U. S. citizens to vote, please email Cathy Murphree at NewCitizen@lwvrichardson.org.
