Local elections will be May 7, 2022. Every registered voter who lives in
- Texas may vote on 2 Texas State Constitutional Amendments
- Dallas College Board of Trustees District 1 may vote in the District 1 Election.
- Dallas College Board of Trustees Distict 3 may vote in the District 3 Election.
- Richardson ISD District 2 may vote in the District 2 Election.
- Richardson ISD District 4 may vote in the uncontested District 4 Election.
- Richardson ISD District 5 may vote in the District 5 Election.

Printed Voters Guides (that have 4 of the 19 online questions printed) can be found at: Fretz Park Branch Library, Richardson Library, Richardson Civic Center, Richardson Senior Center, Heights Recreation Center, Huffhines Recreation Center, Forest Green Branch Library, and Audelia Road Branch Library.
The elections for Richardson ISD and Dallas College Boards of Trustees are NOT partisan elections. The candidates are NOT running as Republicans, Democrats, Libertarians, etc.

Primary Runoff Election: May 24, 2022

A Second Election in May!
You may have already received your
ballot by mail for the
May 24 Primary Runoff Election.
| | | The Primary Runoff Election is a partisan election. The major political parties (Republican and Democratic) in Texas hold a Primary Election to choose who will represent their party in the November General Election. For those candidates who did not receive more than 50% of the votes cast in the March 1, 2022 Primary Election, there is a runoff election on May 24, 2022.
- If you voted in the March 1 Democratic Primary Election, you may vote in the May 24 Democratic Primary Runoff Election.

If you voted in the March 1 Republican Primary Election, you may vote in the May 24 Republican Primary Election.

If you are a registered Texas voter, did not vote in either of the major political parties’ Primary Elections (Republican or Democratic), and you did not sign a candidate’s petition for nomination for the Libertarian Party or Green Party in 2022, you may vote in either party’s May 24 Primary Runoff Election.
The Voters Guides for both Collin County and Dallas County from the March 1st Primary Election are available. There is not a new Voters Guide for just the Primary Runoff Election.

Forums for May 24th Primary Runoff Elections
The League of Women Voters of Dallas, the North Dallas Chamber of Commerce, and the North Texas Commission are cosponsoring a series of candidate forums. In most cases these will be the only candidate forums for these races. You must register to attend.

May Discussion Group: Thursday May 12, 7pm, via Zoom

The May meeting will review and discuss the 44-minute film Suppressed and Sabotaged - The Fight to Vote, a film by Brave New Films.
Please view the film before our discussion group meets on Thursday, May 12, 2022, 7pm, via Zoom. The Zoom invitation is below.
According to their website, the mission of Brave New Films "is to champion social justice issues by using a model of media, education, and grassroots volunteer involvement that inspires, empowers, motivates and teaches civic participation and makes a difference." They are "a non-partisan, non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization that carries out the Brave New Films mission by creating and distributing educational films."
Brave New Films has made the film available for free to groups to screen if followed by discussion. We will also be inviting members of LWVDallas and LWV of Central Texas to join our May 12th discussion group.

June Discussion Group -
At the League of Women Voters Annual Convention, the decision was made to advocate for Ranked Choice Voting. This is a great topic for June, especially since runoff elections may result from the May 7th elections.
We want to hear your Discussion Group topic ideas!
We will take July off and reconvene in August.

Saturday, April 23, was a beautiful day for LWVR's Discussion Group's first field trip. We had a good time at BonTon Farms. | | |
Voter Registration at Richardson's Farmers Market
| | Voter Service held a voter registration event at the Richardson Farmers Market on April 2 which was the last Saturday before the deadline to register for the May 7 election. We distributed lots fliers and answered dozens of questions, living up to our motto of educating voters! Many people were not aware of the upcoming election/s.

| For more than 50 years, voters in the City of Richardson and the Richardson ISD have relied upon the League of Women Voters of Richardson for information about city council and school board elections.
During local election season, we are uniquely able to serve our community, by providing timely, accurate, LOCAL, nonpartisan election information.
Please help us out by sharing with friends and neighbors the fact that our website has all the information they need to vote responsibly in all elections, including LOCAL elections. Sharing our Facebook and Twitter posts also greatly increases voters’ awareness of our resources.
Our government institutions can only represent the will of the voters if people actually go out and cast an informed vote for the people who will represent them. You can help by making sure voters you know have access to the information they need.
