FROM THE PRESIDENT
By Ellen Steger, President                                                        president@lwvrichardson.org

Usually, the month of November is a slow time for the League...after the election, that is!  However,  several exciting opportunities surfaced after the November VOTER was sent out.  So, for the first time ever, the League of Women Voters of Richardson is sending an addendum to its monthly newsletter!

MEMBERSHIP MINUTE
By Nita Thomason, Membership VP                                 membership@lwvrichardson.org

League Members, mark your calendars for December 4th!

Did you know that two of our members - Jean Richards and Chuck Lace - are part of the Richardson Community Chorale?  So, for our December Social, we thought it might be fun to go out to eat and then go to the Eisemann Center for the Holiday Classics Concert by the Richardson Symphony Orchestra and the Richardson Community Chorale.

We'll go to Good Union BBQ at 6:00pm in the west City Line area, 1150 State Street. Then after we eat, we can drive the short distance to the Eisemann Center and enjoy the music. Purchase tickets here.   Tickets range from $20 to $80.

Hope you can join us for either or both parts of what promises to be a great way to kick off the Christmas season.

PUBLIC EDUCATION AND ADVOCACY
By Marcia Grau, Education and Advocacy VP                            program@lwvrichardson.org

We hope you will join us at the following meetings:

November 8:  A public hearing on redistricting of the School Board's Single-Member Districts will be held by the Richardson ISD Board of Trustees on Monday, November 8, 6pm, in the RISD Administration Building Auditorium.  The Trustees are requesting public feedback on 3 proposed redistricting options.  The 2020 United States Federal Census shows that RISD Single-Member District 2 has grown in population and Single-Member District 3 has decreased in population making the differential between the two districts 12%. The Election Code mandates that redistricting is required for any differential above 10% .
November 11: LWV-Richardson Discussion Group, 7pm, via Zoom. The topic is "When Dallas Was the Most Racist City in America".

November 10:  LWV-Dallas is holding a Neighborhood Unit Meeting on Wednesday, November 10, 7pm, via Zoom.  The topic is Climate Change and the Environment.  Registration is required.

November 17: LWV-Dallas is holding a Membership Connections Meeting on Wednesday, November 17, 7pm, via Zoom.  The topic is Ranked Choice Voting.  Registration is required.
