What's on the ballot?

All voters who live in the City of Richardson will vote on the:
  • Richardson City Council

All voters who live in the Collin County portion of Richardson will vote on the:
  • PISD Board of Trustees
  • Collin County Community College District Board of Trustees
  • Collin County Community College District bond proposal

All voters who live in the Richardson Independent School District will vote on the:
  • RISD Board of Trustees

Dallas County

Collin County

To find your own precinct number, you can look on your voter registration certificate, or you can go to the Voter Registration Search page, enter your name and birthdate, and you will see a copy of your voter registration certificate. Your precinct number is above and just to the right of your name.

Election Information

Collin College Board of Trustees

Nine members of this Board are elected in odd-numbered years to overlapping six-year terms. There are no geographic requirements for candidates to live in specific parts of the county. All members are voted on by all voters (elected at large).

Places (Places 1, 2, and 3) on the COLLIN COUNTY COMMUNITY COLLEGE DISTRICT BOARD OF TRUSTEES are included in this election. In addition, a special election for the remaining 2 years of the term of Place 5 will be held on the same date.

Collin County Community College District bond proposal

A $600 million proposal to expand the services of the CCCCD will be on the ballot. The ballot language is:

THE ISSUANCE OF $600,000,000.00 BONDS FOR THE PURPOSE OF CONSTRUCTING, IMPROVING, RENOVATING AND EQUIPPING SCHOOL BUILDINGS IN THE DISTRICT AND ACQUIRING REAL PROPERTY THEREFOR, AND THE LEVYING OF A DEBT TAX IN PAYMENT THEREOF NOT TO EXCEED TWELVE CENTS ($ 0.12) ON EACH ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS 100.00) OF ASSESSED VALUATION OF TAXABLE PROPERTY.

According to an article in the Dallas Morning News, if this proposition passes the increase in property tax estimated by the Board of Trustees for a $300,000 home would be $87.98 per year.

Richardson City Council

The City of Richardson is holding a CITY COUNCIL ELECTION on this date. All seven members of the City Council are elected in odd-numbered years to serve 2-year terms. Thus, the offices of Mayor and the six City Council members will be on the ballot.

Candidates for Places 1 through 4 must reside in the quadrant of the city represented by that place (view a map here). Candidates for Places 5 and 6, and for Mayor, may reside in any quadrant of the city. All 7 members are voted on by all voters (elected at large).

PISD Board of Trustees

This is the local election date on which the PLANO INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT will be holding a Board of Trustee Election. The PISD board has seven members who serve 4-year terms, and elections are held in odd-numbered years for three or four places on that board. The PISD election this year will be for Places 1, 2, 3, and 6.

Board members are not required to live in specific geographic parts of the district. All 7 members are voted on by all voters (elected at large).

The races are:

The RISD election this year will be for Places 6 and 7. In addition, a special election for the remaining 2 years of the term of Place 3 will be held on the same date.

Board members are not required to live in specific geographic parts of the district. All 7 members are voted on by all voters (elected at large).

In-person Early Voting

In-person Early Voting for the May 6 election begins on April 24th and ends on May 2nd. Any registered voter may vote early in person.

Dallas County residents of Richardson

To view specific Early Voting dates, times, and locations for Dallas County, see the Dallas County Elections Department website. Dallas County residents may vote early at any Early Voting location in Dallas County. The Richardson Civic Center is a Dallas County Early Voting location.

Collin County residents of Richardson

The Renner-Frankford Library (6400 Frankford Rd.) is an Early Voting location for both Dallas and Collin Counties.

Collin County residents of Richardson who wish to vote their entire ballot in one location during Early Voting may do so at the Renner-Frankford Library. Otherwise, they will need vote in two different Early Voting locations.

Collin County residents of Richardson may vote early in the Plano ISD Board of Trustees, Collin County Community College District (CCCCD) Board of Trustees, and CCCCD Bond Elections at any Collin County Early Voting location. Collin County residents of Richardson may vote early in the Richardson City Council Election at any Dallas County Early Voting location (see the link in the section above for the full list of Dallas County locations). The Richardson Civic Center is a Dallas County Early Voting location.

Election Day Voting

Election Day is May 6, 2017. Polls are open from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Dallas County residents of Richardson

On Election Day, Dallas County residents of Richardson must vote at their local precinct polling place. To view a list of Dallas County Election Day polling places, see the Dallas County Elections Department website.

The Richardson Civic Center is not a polling place on Election Day.

Collin County residents of Richardson

Most Collin County residents of Richardson who wish to vote their entire ballot in one location on Election Day may do so at their local polling place.

On Election Day, Collin County residents of Richardson may vote for PISD Board, CCCCD Board, and the CCCCD Bond Election at any Election Day Vote Center in the county.

On Election Day, ballots for the Richardson City Council Election will only be available at local polling places for Collin County residents of Richardson.

  • Residents of Precincts 48 and 55 will vote for both Richardson City Council and all Collin County races at Aldridge Elementary School.

  • Residents of Precincts 94 and 125 will vote for both Richardson City Council and all Collin County races at Miller Elementary School.

  • Residents of Precincts 78 and 110 will vote for Richardson City Council at the Police Substation at 2003 Renner Road. To vote for Collin County races, residents of these precincts will also need to vote at any Collin County Election Day Vote Center.
